Curti tiles - Man de Milan - Salone satellite Milan Design Week 2018

This tile collection was designed in the historic furnace Curti of Milan, inside which history and noble, artisanal traditions of the city continue to live today. In fact, the aristocrat family Sforza was the one to commission the noble Giosuè Curti for the making of friezes, tiles and bricks in red clay, intended for the facade of Maggiore hospital (Ca’ Granda), based on the design of Antonio Averulino, known as the Filarete. This exact image of Milan, covered in clay, was the main inspiration of this collection of diamond-shaped tiles, composed of 9 red-clay-ones that represent the graphic archetypes of architecture, (a door, a window, columns) and 2 different-colored tiles without decoration, all of which can be used to compose an entire city.
